We are meeting face-to-face at last for our 2021 AGM and Writers’ Day. And, of course, we’re celebrating our Golden Jubilee.
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
First we will hold the Annual General Meeting (AGM) where we look back on the year that is ending; this is usually short but it’s worthwhile to stay in touch with what ACW has been up to. There’s also an opportunity to ask questions, make suggestions, and generally have a say about the way the association is going. Copies of the annual report will be available to ACW members before the AGM. (If you are not an ACW member, you are very welcome to attend but you may not vote – unless you quickly join us beforehand.)
Nuggets of Gold – A trove of writing tips and memories.
Speaker Angela Hobday
Former ACW Chair, Angela Hobday, will share her treasured moments and discovered wisdom from her years on the ACW Committee. Enjoy an opportunity to pan for your own gold and to collectively create something unique.
Angela is a retired consultant clinical psychologist who has co-authored the Creative Therapy series of books on working therapeutically with children and families. She also writes fiction as Annie Try. Her first novel was written during an MA in Creative Writing, and came out in 2012. She has also published three further novels, featuring Dr Mike Lewis, Clinical Psychologist, and his mystery-solving clients, with Christian publisher, Instant Apostle.
Write Well – A Book Launch
After a break for lunch, a book launch. The keenly awaited ACW jubilee compendium, Write Well, will be available for sale. There will be a celebration cake to mark the occasion.
Editor Amy Scott Robinson, who has been involved in the production of this handbook for writers since the idea was first mooted, will be there to cut the metaphorical ribbon (and the cake).
If you are one of the 50 contributors to the book and you’re planning to attend this writers’ day, you may wish to read out a snippet of your essay at the launch. If you would like to do this, send an email to Jane Brocklehurst, ACW Events Manager, on firstname.lastname@example.org with “Book Launch Contributor” in the subject line. (But please book your place at the event first.)
For one day only we hope to be selling copies at a discounted price to everyone attending the event. So, bring some cash, as well as your notebook and pen, sandwiches, and up to three copies of [each of] your own books to sell on our writers’ day bookstall.
This event has now taken place. And what a great day it was!
