This competition is now closed.  Judging is taking place.

But – if you are not a member of Association of Christian Writers – you must pay your entry fee(s) (£3 for one entry, £5 for two entries),  by Sunday, 3 December 2023, using the form to the right.

After a successful spring competition in the genre of non-fiction memoir, the autumn competition will be in the genre short fiction. We are looking for short stories of no more than 1,000 words that begin with the following opening line:

The handwriting was unfamiliar, the postmark smudged. With shaking fingers, she ripped the envelope open and withdrew the single sheet of paper.

Hopefully that intriguing start gets your creative juices flowing!

  • Entries should be submitted to competitions@christianwriters.co.uk as a Word document.
  • Your name and address details emailed to competitions@christianwriters.co.uk in a separate document.
  • The entries will be judged by contemporary fiction and Kindle bestselling author Emma Robinson.
  • The prizes are as follows:
    • First: £30 book token;
    • Second:  £15 book token;
    • Third:  £10 book token.
  • Entries must be received by midnight on Wednesday 15 November 2023.
